Exciting News From Pastor Sherry
Christmas Eve service will be at 7PM, complete with
candles, Communion, and Silent Night. There will also
be worship on Christmas Day at 9:30AM with
traditional lessons and carols. I know it’s hard to look past
Christmas and into the New Year, but we are prepping and
planning for it because we know it is coming! We are
looking forward to God moving in powerful ways in our lives
and in our church!! Some things to consider for
participation:
1. Life Groups- these are small groups that gather
together for building faith and community; forming a
deeper relationship with God and one another. We will be
hosting a THREE-WEEK series called The Wesley
Challenge: 21 Days to a More Authentic Faith. There is
a book that goes along with it that everyone will begin the
week prior. **If you plan to join a group please let me know,
as well as if you need me to order you a book.
Life Groups:
a. Thursdays, January 12, 19, 26th at 7PM at
the parsonage (begin reading January 4th or 5th)
b. Fridays, January 13, 20, 27th at 3PM at Rome
First in the Lounge (begin reading January 5th or 6th)
c. Mondays, January 16, 23, 30th via ZOOM at
2PM (begin reading January 8th or 9th)
2. Saturday’s Bounty- at our sister-church, Rome First,
we are launching Saturday, January 7th, providing a hot
meal in our fellowship hall for the community and offering
some time of worship with music, scripture, a short
devotion, and prayer. Many hands are needed for prep,
cooking, serving, cleanup, praying, and people to simply
be available to help where needed and be intentional about
building community. **Please let me know if you are
wanting to serve in this ministry and in what capacity.
3. Prayer Vigil- we will be hosting a Prayer Vigil on
Saturday, January 28th from 7AM to 7PM in our
sanctuary. The Prayer Team has been working to create
a meaningful prayer experience for our entire church, and
we ask that everyone find the time to participate. People
will be asked to sign up for a specific hour, though you
may stay and pray longer if you choose. Please let me
know which hour you would like to come participate and
pray on January 28th: 7-8AM, 8-9AM, 9-10AM, 10-11AM,
11-noon, noon-1PM, 1-2PM, 2-3PM, 3-4PM, 4-5PM, 5-
6PM, 6-7PM.
4. Bible Study that meets at Rome First on
Wednesdays at 6PM is currently on hiatus and will begin
again on January 11th. What book of the Bible we will be
studying is TBD.
5. “Let’s get Pastor Sherry Ordained” Bible Study,
which is focused on the first chapters of Genesis will be a
SIX-WEEK series on Sundays, beginning on January
15th from 12:30-2PM (ish) in the Lounge. Pizza for
lunch will be provided, so please let me know if you will
be there. This will be held at Rome First to incorporate the
Confirmation class into it.
6. The Prayer Meeting at Rome First is currently on hiatus
and will resume on Wednesday, January 18th at
7:15PM in the Lounge.
7. PLUS all of the other ongoing things we look
forward to- Adult Sunday School, Hot Topics, Deeper,
Bell Choir, Choir, etc.
