It snowed in April! After Easter! The schools were even
closed, and people had to lug the shovels out once again.
It’s not the way it’s supposed to be! For most of us, the
extra dose of snow was a reminder of what we didn’t want.
It pointed to what we believed was past, hoped was past,
and yet it reared its ugly head again. For most of us, it was
frustrating and downright depressing. It’s not the way it’s
supposed to be!
On Easter Sunday we proclaimed the ancient greeting
“Christ is Risen!” with the response of “He is Risen
Indeed!” Yes, Christ IS Risen indeed, but sometimes when
we look around it’s difficult to see the evidence- within the
world, with others, and sometimes even within ourselves.
It’s like Spring arrived, the beginning evidence was there,
it was embraced, and yet it snowed.
Easter, Resurrection Sunday, is when we celebrated that
Jesus rose again, conquering sin and death. Jesus made
a way through his death on a cross and his resurrection so
that all those who trust and believe in him could have
victory over sin and inherit eternal life.
The disciples eventually discovered that Jesus is alive, yet
it wasn’t a smooth and easy transition. Some believed right
away, while others struggled. Evidence continued to
mount, as people personally experienced the risen Lord
and excitedly shared their stories. Hope was spreading!
What began as a small movement of people eventually
stretched out to reach billions of people around the world!!
For times when our own world is supposed to be Spring,
and yet everything gets covered in snow- times of sorrow,
pain, frustration, struggles, and disappointment- we
remember the promise and expectation of Christ, our hope
eternal! It is incredibly important that we continue to
consider our own encounters with our risen Lord, and
continue to share our stories of resurrection power and
hope. Your story may be what helps someone “snowed in”
to experience our risen Lord, remember God’s promises,
and hold onto hope through Christ. Christ is Risen! He is
Risen Indeed!
